Fibonacci Number Patterns

Dear SS( Sincere Seeker):

When we went to LA. in last April,
Dr. Abura, called up his former medical school classmates for a reunion dinner with us. During the dinner, he shared his newly discovery of Fibonacci number patterns in nature. I think you are familiar with this pattern in nature, right? However, Dr. Abura discovered this pattern recently as he was taking art class after retirement. His art teacher told the class about these natural phenomena. So he shared this new discovery with us. And I fortunately did encounter this number series early on as my computer teacher taught us in the very beginning of our computer course. I hope this prevalent patterns do tell you that this universe has a Creator God and not just by random chances. Or else how can randomness create beautiful orders like these, could you kindly explain to me? ( You who don't acknowledge our Creator God.)

The Fibonacci number patterns encountered herein occur so frequently in nature that we often hear the phenomenon referred to as a "law of nature". Not all four-petalled flowers are so rare as the four-leaf clover is reputed to be and deviations, sometimes even large ones, from Fibonacci patterns have been found. If this is at all disturbing to the modern botanist, it is not at all so to the Fibonacci devotee, for whom the whole phenomenon, if not a "law", is at least a fascinating prevalent tendency!

He first discovered the Fibonacci number sequence by estimating how fast rabbits could reproduce in an ideal environment. Now I’m not a mathematician and I don’t want to get too technical or boring but the premise behind the squares, or the sequence, is adding each number in the sequence with the number occurring before it in the sequence. 21 + 13 = 34 and so on.
While I must admit I really don’t care about the math I did want to include that part in my post so you at least have some knowledge of what I’m talking about. What I most care about is what the spiral looks like in nature, architecture and the like. I did a basic search on Google and came up with some of the following images…

Two Kinds of Skeptics

Open-minded skeptics are willing to look carefully at the evidence, meditate on it, and maybe pray, “God, I’m not sure if You are hearing this or not. But if you are, I’m willing for you to help me see that You are real and that I can trust the Bible.” An Open-minded skeptic might be willing to try reading a chapter of John each day, and pray, “God, if this is your Word, help me understand it.”

On the other hand, it is important to recognize that some skeptics cannot be convinced regardless of the evidence.

They are like the man who thought he was dead. His family tried mightily to convince him that he was not dead, but he would not be persuaded. Finally, in desperation, they took him to a psychiatrist. The psychiatrist tried various tactics, but nothing worked. Finally he decided, "If I can convince him of one fact that contradicts his belief that he is dead, that should cure him." So he decided to use the simple truth that dead men do not bleed. He gave the man some medical texts to read, had him observe some autopsies, talk with embalmers, etc. Finally, after several weeks, the man said "O.K.!, O.K.!, You've convinced me! Dead men do not bleed!" Immediately the psychiatrist stuck him in the arm with a needle, and the blood flowed. The man looked down at his arm with a shocked look on his face and said

"Good grief!… Dead men DO bleed after all!" Some have simply made up their minds that they will not be convinced regardless of the evidence! ...

Two battleships assigned to the training squadron

had been at sea on maneuvers in heavy weather off the California

coast for several days. As night fell, the captain noticed

the patchy fog and decided to remain on the bridge.

Shortly after dark, the lookout on the wing of the

bridge reported,

"Light. Bearing on the starboard bow".
"Is it steady or moving astern?" the captain asked.
The lookout replied, "Steady, captain," which meant

the battleship was on a collision course with the

other ship.

The captain called to the signalman,

"Signal that ship. You are on a collision course.

Advise you alter course 20 degrees."

Back came the answering signal,

"Advisable that you change course 20 degrees."
The captain said,

"Send another message. I am a senior captain.

Change course 20 degrees."
"I am a seaman second class," came the reply,

"Change your course at once."
The officer was furious. He spat out,

"We are a battleship squadron. Change your course

20 degrees."
The flashing light replied, "I am a lighthouse." The squadron changed course.

Doubting Thomas & Blind Faith

Thank you for sharing Pastor C's sermon about "Doubting Thomas" with us last Sat.

I totally agree that Thomas' searching for evidences of the resurrected Jesus is very rational and reasonable since he was not there when Jesus appeared to His disciples for the first time. A week later, Jesus reappeared to His disciples and that time Thomas was present, Jesus didn't blame him that he was doubting but instead Jesus welcomed him to reach His side to check the evidences for himself.Thomas finally believed. Jesus then said”"Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."That doesn't mean Jesus has encouraged blind faith in Him. Not really, because Thomas did know those other disciples well who were reliable eye witnesses. They had no reason or any gains to cheat on Thomas about Jesus’ resurrection. So when they reported to him that they saw the resurrected Jesus, Thomas could have believed their eyewitness statements were true. However, resurrection of the dead is so unique and unusual, that of course it is hard to believe unless one sees the evidences by himself/herself.

Now we don't see the resurrected Jesus appears to us but we know those original eyewitnesses are reliable and trustworthy, besides, they had nothing to gain to cheat or to perjury, just the opposite, they might lose their lives by saying "Jesus has risen from the death". All other psychological and motivational reasons we check into, would not give us any reason that they would lie to Thomas or to the generations after them. So we can count on their reliable eye witness accounts. Besides, Jesus had been on earth for 40 days after His resurrection. And so many people had seen Him with their own eyes. One time 500 people all saw Him. That couldn’t be a hallucination. Furthermore,the Holy Spirit will lead us into truth and when we believe in the resurrected Jesus, the Holy Spirit will dwell in us ; though the Holy Spirit is invisible yet true believers of Jesus can all testify the Holy Spirit indwelling in them.

I'd like to comment that most intelligent people do need to go through the process of Thomas' doubting and searching for evidences. Nevertheless, there are other people since they have experienced the reality of God first, they can believe Jesus is God, without going through painful doubting and searching. They are blessed if they come into contact with God first without all the detours in the doubting deserts. I do hope you search for God earnestly.

Don't ever give up!

Dialogue with a Sincere Seeker about "Trinity"

Sincere Seeker( SS ):
The more we discuss about Trinity God the more Qs( questions) seem to pop up in my head. Here is another one:

Jesus and Holy Spirit seem to exist solely for the human beings.

( Nope! It is not so.The Trinity exists in all the eternity but the revelation of three Persons in one God is gradually revealed to us. Even Jesus' disciples were fuzzy about the relationship of Trinity God. I don't blame them, Who wouldn't feel fuzzy about the term Trinity? It is not a human invention at all. Not until Jesus was resurrected and when the Holy Spirit brought them into the truth of Trinity God. Without the cleansing of our hearts by the blood of Jesus, the Holy Spirit couldn't dwell in human beings. The Jews who worship only One God, of course couldn't accept Jesus as God. That shows how amazing that 3000 Jewish men, not counting women and children, accepted Jesus as their God in the very beginning of the church history.)

How do you convince yourself that your jg ( Jewish god according to SS )would split into three parts( God didn't split into three parts like an atom, God exists in three Persons in all the eternity.) merely for the purpose of creating human beings,( I've never said that. Where did you get that? Merely for the purpose of creating human beings? Not at all. God the Son revealed Himself fully to become a God man to be born with a virgin birth. So the invisible God had revealed Himself totally visible in Jesus.) which you know well are only about the germs on a sand grain if the universe is the size of a beach. And humans only began to exist on earth one million years ago as in comparison with the universe's age of 13.7 billion years.

Your jg would be too obsessed enough to use two third of himself( it is not 2/3 of Himself. The Trinity is not consisted of 3 parts but of 3 total self sufficient Persons) dedicated to the few germs on a grain of sand. Don't you think?( Dear SS, yes, it is unthinkable and very amazing that our Creator God who created the whole universe would care about our tiny Globe and His created creatures on it, especially human beings. And God is willing to die for us to redeem us back to Him. And God's love is so amazing that He is willing to indwell in Bs(believers).Yet until today you are still rejecting Him and embracing "Nothing creates this universe".

Note:Son of God is using the most intimate term in human relationship to describe the most loving relationship between Jesus and God the Father.)
(The term "Son of God" refers not to procreation, but to a special relationship that Jesus has with God the Father As "the Message" Bible paraphrased to “This is my Son, marked by my love, focus of all my delight.” explained the meaning of " Son" very well.).

p.s. my new insight about Trinity God is one God because their loving relationship is such that they are inseparable. God is Love. Only on the cross that Jesus had separated from His Father because Jesus bore all our sins and God the Father walked away, the rest in eternity the 3 persons are in inseparable loving relationship that they only have one will, one mind and one heart. Perhaps in this light, we may understand why God said there is only One God.

...The Roman empire, the fourth world kingdom, is represented by a horrible monster with iron teeth and 10 horns (Daniel 7:7).

What do the horns represent?

Answer: The 10 horns represent the 10 kings or kingdoms into which pagan Rome was eventually split (Daniel 7:24). (These 10 kingdoms are the same as the 10 toes of the image described in Daniel 2:41-44.) Roving barbarian tribes swept in upon the Roman empire and carved out land niches for their people. Next to the fifty-third chapter of Isaiah (and perhaps the ninth chapter also), we have here the most precious and prominent portion of the sure word of prophecy concerning the coming of the Messiah. The chapter is worthy of the most careful prayer and study. It is referred to directly or indirectly by Christ and His apostles perhaps more than other portions of the Old Testament of similar extent. (The Most Stubborn Excuse!)

A man is convinced he is dead. His wife and kids are exasperated. They keep telling him he's not dead. But he continues to insist he's dead.
They try telling him, "Look, you're not dead; you're walking and talking and breathing; how can you be dead?" But he continues to insist that he is dead.
The family finally takes him to a doctor. The doctor pulls out some medical books to demonstrate to the man that dead men do not bleed. After some time, the man admits that dead men do not bleed.
The doctor then takes the man's hand and a needle and pokes the end of his finger. The man starts bleeding. He looks at his finger and says, "What do you know? DEAD MEN DO BLEED!"

Presuppositions, Evangelism, and Apologetics

The above story illustrates the strength presuppositions can have. If someone is already convinced of a particular position, presenting contrary evidence can often be futile. The person will often re-interpreted the evidence in light of the presupposition. 有一天，有一個人早上睡醒的時候，忽然跟他的太太大聲宣告說：「從今以後，我不用上班了，因為我已經死了。」他的太太大吃一驚，以為他在開玩笑，對他說：「你看起來好好的，為什麼說是死了呢？」
可是不管她怎麼說，這位仁兄堅持他已經死了，不肯去上班。

無計可施之下，她只好去找來一個精神科醫生. 這位醫生用盡三寸不爛之舌，想盡辦法說服他，讓他知道他還沒有死。可是無論說什麼，這位仁兄一點兒也不為所動。後來實在沒辦法，只好帶他到太平間去參觀屍體。醫生用了一根針，插進死人的手臂，死人毫無動靜，沒有什麼反應，然後他告訴這位仁兄，「你看，這個死人是不會流血的。」之後，轉身，把另一根針插進那人的手臂，一下子，鮮血就湧出來了。於是醫生很得意地對他說;「你還沒有死，才會流鮮血，看見了沒有？」

沒想到，這位仁兄卻一笑置之地說：「現在我知道了，原來死人還是會流鮮血的。」
